Staying on Task

Admin Gal has been running amok the last several weeks.  Projects to run, people to manage and chaos to sow.  With all this fun, it has been hard to stay on task.  The 'to do' list is lengthy and the writing illegible.

Yet, with out the almighty task list, little things might fall through the cracks.  So, what's an Admin to do?  Make a list, check it twice and be flexible to bend in the wild whirlwind that is the job.

People are Silly

Admin Gal as an observation and pet peeve all rolled into one.

We all know that person.  The one who takes on a project and can't let go of the details.  They do everything, up to and INCLUDING every task that the team members are suppose to do.

Leaving the project member to do what - you may ask?

Why to take the fall for the impending failure on their part - of course.

Look people.  Projects, events, committees are all things that are comprised of multiple tasks, milestones and, often times, deadlines.  Having several people on the team is meant to alleviate the stress of the over all project.

Taking the burden upon yourself is just plain silly.

Everybody is Important...

in their own mind.  

As an Admin there is a hierarchy of people in my life.  Numero Uno?  My boss.  When he says he is free, he is free.  When he says piss off to a persistent client, I translate it to a more palatable 'He is busy, we'll get back to you with a more convenient time.'

Everyone has something that is earth shatteringly important.  One of the few things that trumps my boss is his boss. And that is understandable.  

But a consultant we've done business with, who only wants to pitch a new venture is at the bottom of the heap.  Especially when he's been told that my boss's plate is over flowing with high priority things.  

Will they never learn?
